Mount Columbia, 14,077' - Colorado's 35th highest peak
June 25, 2023
Ulyana joined her friend, Kateryna Lapina, and 7 other hikers from Ukraine, to hike to the top of Mount Columbia. After car camping the night before, the group set off in the early morning. Despite being a wet spring and early summer, the group didn't encounter much snow on the ascent, making it easier than expected. However, the steepness of this peak is not to be underestimated, especially on the descent, which slowed down some members. Everyone made it to the summit and for one person, Regina, it was her first 14er! Ulyana was happy to help her on her first ascent of one of Colorado's famed 14,ooo-foot peaks.
Ricardo's first ascent of this peak was June 14, 2000. |
