Mount Arvon 1979' - Michigan's High point October 1, 2018
After doing Wisconsin's highpoint, we drove north to a wonderful place called the Hiawatha Resort in Eagle River, MN. Curious fact: The owners of this place moved from Eagle River, Alaska to Eagle River, Minnesota! Their hospitality, by the way, was wonderful!
The next morning we drove to Mount Arvon. Michigan's highpoint is one of the easiest highpoints in the country as you can drive to the top or do an easy 3.5 mile hike. We chose to hike of course. This was a pretty hike through a very humid forest (it rained on us quite a bit). The only challenge of this highpoint is getting here, as its pretty far from any major airport or big city. Patrick Rowe joined us on this high point (after doing Wisconsin's HP with us too). After this hike, we did the long drive to Duluth, Minnesota to position ourselves for Eagle Mountain then next day. State high points rank: 38 |
