Humphreys Peak 12,633' - Arizona's High Point
Ricardo: August 15, 1999
Ulyana: May 15, 2019
Humphreys Peak is the highest point of Arizona, as well as the highest of a group of dormant volcanic peaks called the San Francisco Peaks.
Ricardo's ascent of this peak was back in August 1999. Ulyana went up with friends, Chris and Shawna, after teaching a planetary field geology class in the nearby lava fields for the International Institute for Astronautical Sciences. They encountered a lot of snow during this spring ascent, as well as below-freezing temperatures at the summit, due to high winds. State highpoint rank: 12th |
