Guadalupe Peak 8750' - Texas' High Point
November 12, 2020
Guadalupe Peak is Texas' highpoint and is actually an ancient fossilized reef, dating back hundreds of millions of years. Ricardo first ascended this peak on June 23, 2014. He and Ulyana climbed this one together in November 2020, after a family visit to Austin, Texas. Afterwards, we explored a nearby peak called El Capitan. There wasn't much of a trail here - and we had to be careful and watch for rattlesnakes.
Given this was in the middle of the COVID pandemic, we opted to drive rather than fly. On this trip, we also explored the nearby beautiful Carlsbad Caverns. State highpoint rank: 14th |
