Eagle Mountain 2,301' - Minnesota's high point October 2, 2018
Eagle Mountain was very enjoyable for us. We were looking forward to this one since out of the three state highpoints we were doing on this trip, this one required a real hike. Unfortunately, on the way there we got a flat tire! By that point, we had the afternoon to hike since the next day we had a really full day of driving 4+ hours to Minneapolis to then meet with Emily Marrs to record the music video and make an afternoon flight!
The rental car had an emergency spare tire (a donut as they are called!) that was not enough to do a long drive so somehow we had to do this hike very quickly and make it down to the nearest town to try to get the flat tire fixed before shops closed. By the time we put the emergency tire on, it was already past noon since we had driven from Duluth that morning. The solution was to trail run this 7 mile hike and it turned out to be a good hike for doing so. We made it up in 1 hour and 14 minutes and ran down for a total time of 2 hours and 14 minutes. We had to take time to make sure we were going the right way and to take photos but we made it down to Grand Marais just with enough time to get the tired fixed! The next morning we drove straight to Lake Harriet in Minneapolis where we met Emily. Ricardo and Emily had not seen each other in at least 20 years. They only had 30-40 minutes to rehearse and record the song but they did it and even managed to do another take to broadcast live on Facebook. State highpoints rank: 37th |

SUMMITS: Eagle Mountain photos
SONGS: Something - with Emily Marrs
Emily Marrs is a professional singer in Minneapolis. Check out her band's website: www.emilymarrsband.com
Emily's first professional gigs were with Ricardo's band in the late 90's and they had not seen each other since then so this was a very enjoyable reunion! Ulyana took care of the camera work as they rehearsed and recorded this song which was picked by Emily: The Beatles' "Something".
